All Yorkshire ECB County Premier League clubs will be looking for volunteers to help them participate in this years NatWest Cricket force weekend, which this year takes place between 26th and the 28th March.

NatWest cricket force is a scheme organised by the England & Wales cricket board to encourage all Cricket enthusiasts to give their time voluntary and help their local cricket club to help improve the facilities before the season gets underway - such as painting, cleaning, sweeping, joinery - in fact anything that needs help doing.

A MESSAGE FROM THE NEW YORKSHIRE ECB PREMIER COUNTY LEAGUE PRESIDENT

Dave SharpLadies and gentlemen, thank you very much to everyone for your support for me in my new role as President of a very historic and prestigious league.

I would like to place on record my thanks from everyone to Bill Croft, my predecessor and stalwart of the Yorkshire Cricket League.

It is with a great deal of excitement that I look forward to working with an already enthusiastic and supportive committee, already we have started to take a fresh look at the way forward for every club in the league.

For those of you who don’t know me, I tend to do things on trust and delegation. We are very fortunate to have procured the services to the committee of Barnsley cricket club’s Kevin Motley, who will take charge of records, and also Paul McFarlane, a man with much administrative experience in cricket.

Ally these people with the existing committee of Steve Ward, David Young, Mark Beardshall and Nick Kay; I look forward to some exciting and future happenings, and last, but not least, there will always be a place within the Yorkshire league hierarchy for the hardworking and extremely sincere Colin Adamson, whose experience and steady influence is invaluable to everyone.

With all these things in mind, we have already started on several ventures which we feel will be an absolute plus to the prestigious Yorkshire League - namely:

    1 Lap top scoring

2 Complete revamp of website to give us together the one thing that makes all top organisations tick and that is communication. With that word in mind, we all understand communication is two way and, as a committee, we will always listen but we can’t listen if you don’t tell us.

In the next couple of months it is my intention, through Steve Ward, to visit every club. I trust and hope that patience and support will help us achieve all our goals, not forgetting the Umpires Association of this league who I can assure you, through my own umpiring experience all around the Country, are the best Umpires by a long way and deserve all the support both on and off the field as this is clearly shown by the lack of disciplinary issues within this league.

Full credit goes to Stuart Roberts, Jeff Holliday and the rest of the standards committee for their creation of a first class panel.

Finally now that we are into the new year, the nights get lighter and the wonderful game that we all love, will once again be upon us. I would like to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year, and for all the players out there who are reading this “now keep your legs out of the way”!!!

Regards and yours in sport

Dave Sharp (Sharpy)
